PM Modi Inaugurated Dwarka Expressway & UER-II: Big Boost for Delhi-NCR Connectivity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated two landmark infrastructure projects in Delhi-NCR — the Dwarka Expressway (Delhi section) and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). These mega highway projects aim to reduce Delhi traffic congestion, improve NCR connectivity, cut travel time, and lower pollution levels. With a combined investment of nearly ₹11,000 crore, the projects are expected to transform travel across Delhi, Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh and Sonipat.

Key Highlights of Dwarka Expressway & UER-II
1. Mega Infrastructure Projects for Delhi-NCR:
- Dwarka Expressway Delhi section: 10.1 km stretch inaugurated at a cost of ₹5,360 crore.
- UER-II corridor: Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch with direct links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, built at a cost of ₹5,580 crore.
2. Dwarka Expressway Details:
- Package I: 5.9 km from Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21.
- Package II:4.2 km to the Delhi-Haryana border.
- Complements the 19-km Haryana section of Dwarka Expressway, inaugurated in March 2024.
3. Multimodal Connectivity: The expressway offers seamless connectivity to IGI Airport, Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, Delhi Metro’s Blue & Orange Lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and Dwarka’s cluster bus depot.
4. UER-II Corridor Alignment: The Urban Extension Road-II runs from NH-44 (Alipur) to NH-48 (Mahipalpur) via Mundka, Bakkarwala, Najafgarh, and Dwarka, with spurs extending to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat.

- Reduced traffic congestion:Major relief for Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, and key junctions like Mukarba Chowk, Peeragarhi Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and Madhuban Chowk.
- Faster travel time: Travel from Singhu Border to IGI Airport will drop from 2 hours to just 40 minutes. North-South Delhi connectivity will also improve significantly.
- Boost to goods movement: Faster freight transport across NCR will improve logistics and economic growth.
- Cleaner environment:Lower traffic jams mean reduced fuel consumption and fewer vehicle emissions, supporting Delhi’s air pollution control efforts.
Government’s Long-Term Plan for Delhi-NCR Roads
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has already launched projects worth ₹50,000 crore to decongest Delhi and improve regional connectivity. With the Dwarka Expressway and UER-II now operational, more infrastructure upgrades are in the pipeline to make Delhi-NCR’s road network world-class.
