Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 Concludes in Prayagraj
The grand Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, concluded on February 26, after 45 days of spiritual fervor, drawing over 66 crore devotees to the sacred Triveni Sangam, as per the Uttar Pradesh government.

The world’s largest religious gathering, which began on January 13, culminated with the final holy dip on Mahashivratri. As the event comes to a close, many are now looking ahead to the dates for the next Kumbh Mela.
On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership in organizing the event. Acknowledging the collective efforts that ensured its success, he remarked, “With political will and the right support, any goal can be achieved.”
Prime Minister Modi likened the enormous gathering to a “newly awakened national consciousness,” emphasizing that India is now moving forward with renewed energy, breaking free from the shadows of historical constraints. In a blog post following the event’s conclusion, he described the Maha Kumbh as a “mahayajna of unity,” urging the nation to carry forward the same spirit of self-confidence and togetherness to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Reflecting on the massive turnout, PM Modi highlighted that the record number of devotees taking the holy dip symbolizes a new chapter in India’s progress. He also offered an apology to “Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, Mother Saraswati,” and the people—whom he considers divine—for any shortcomings in the event’s arrangements.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with his Cabinet ministers, visited Prayagraj on Thursday to personally extend gratitude to officials, sanitation workers, boatmen, drivers, health workers, and police personnel for their dedicated service.
In recognition of their contributions, the chief minister announced a ₹10,000 bonus for sanitation and health workers, police personnel, and drivers deployed during the event. Additionally, boatsmen will receive financial aid and insurance coverage. Furthermore, 75,000 police personnel will be granted a week-long break in a phased manner and honored with a Maha Kumbh Seva Medal.
As the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 concludes, it leaves behind a legacy of faith, unity, and devotion, setting the stage for the next grand congregation.
