Independence Day 2025: PM Modi Warns of Demographic Changes, Unveils Major Reforms & Jobs Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort for the 12th consecutive year on the 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and reaffirming the vision of ‘Naya Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047’.

Calling the day “a festival of 140 crore resolutions,” PM Modi saluted the armed forces, vowed zero tolerance for nuclear threats, and cited decisive actions after the Pahalgam attack. He announced that India will no longer allow Indus river waters to benefit “enemy lands,” stressing farmers’ rights and self-reliance in agriculture, defense, and energy.

Defence & Security: India will not tolerate nuclear threats or terrorism; armed forces have full freedom to respond to terror. Operation Sindoor showcased the power of ‘Made in India’ weapons.

Self-Reliance Drive:Focus on indigenous fighter jet engines, semiconductor manufacturing, and boosting nuclear energy capacity tenfold by 2047.

Economic Reforms:Next-generation GST reform to be rolled out this Diwali, reducing taxes on essential services and benefiting MSMEs.

Youth Employment Boost:Launch of the ₹1 lakh crore Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, offering ₹15,000 support to first-time private-sector employees, expected to generate 3.5 crore jobs.

Water Rights: Criticised the Indus Waters Treaty as unfair to Indian farmers, declaring that India and its farmers have the sole right to the nation’s share.

Cultural Pride:Granted classical language status to Marathi, Assamese, Bangla, Pali and Prakrit; lauded diversity showcased at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh.

Space & Science: Praised astronaut Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla’s return from the Space Station and reaffirmed plans for Gaganyaan and an Indian space station.

Demographic Warning:PM Modi alleged a “premeditated conspiracy” to alter India’s demography, accusing infiltrators (ghuspaithiyas) of taking jobs, threatening women, and seizing tribal lands.
